Requesting a sick note (not fit for work note)
If you are off work for 7 days or less, you do not need to give your employer a sick note or other proof of sickness.
However, your employer may require you to complete a self-certification form (SC2). Your employer can provide this form, or you can download it from the HMRC website.
You only need a sick note if you are unwell, and have taken more than 7 days in a row off work. This includes weekends and bank holidays.
