Our practice is committed to providing inclusive, person-centred care for all patients and actively promotes equality, diversity, and non-discrimination. We work closely with Indigo Gender Service, the NHS adult gender service commissioned by Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (GMMH), to support transgender and gender-diverse patients within primary care.
We maintain strong collaborative working relationships with the Indigo team and accept clinically appropriate shared care arrangements in line with local and national guidance. This enables patients to receive safe, coordinated care closer to home, including the monitoring and prescribing responsibilities agreed between primary and specialist services.
Our practice has a clear commitment to ensuring that transgender and gender-diverse patients have equitable access to healthcare services and are treated with dignity, respect, and understanding. We do not discriminate on the basis of gender identity, gender expression, or trans status. All patients are supported to access the care they need, and staff are encouraged to use patients' chosen names, pronouns, and communication preferences to create a welcoming and inclusive environment.
Through our partnership with Indigo Gender Service and our commitment to shared care, we aim to reduce barriers to healthcare, improve patient outcomes, and demonstrate best practice in line with CQC expectations regarding equality, inclusion, and person-centred care.
